The nearest large town is Singaraja 2 kilometres from the villa.
It is the former capital of Bali. Some old warehouses still remind us of the time when the Dutch colonials ruled here.
Famous buildings in the city are the Gedong Kirtya library and the Chinese Temple. It is beautiful to visit the Pasar Malam in Singaraja. Every evening at exactly 18 hours this mark is open.
In Singaraja you will find various facilities such as hospitals, pharmacies, banks and many markets. You can shop there and recently there is also a large supermarket (Hardy’s) with different kinds of products.
Opposite the villa are small reefs where you can already see a lot. It is an ideal place to easily discover the underwater world of Bali. In Lovina you can go snorkelling especially near Penimbangan (just before Singaraja) but also near the Adirama hotel where there is a coral reef with beautiful corals. An hour’s drive to the west is Menjangan, an island, a nature reserve with large reefs, an enormous diversity of fish and coral and diving schools. Snorkeling and diving can easily be requested from our helpdesk.
The Git-Git waterfalls are the high waterfalls of Bali, 35 minutes away from the holiday villa. (on the road from Singaraja to Denpasar). The waterfall has a height of 40 meters and is situated in the tropical rainforest. At the entrance there are several stalls with clothes, fruit, . . .
Close to Bedugul, in the town of Candi Kuning you will find a 130ha large botanical garden. Where you can get a good impression of the lush tropical mountain flora. You will find numerous wild orchids, including very rare species.
Bedugul is certainly a place to visit. A beautiful Pasar with mainly fruit, greetings, many souvenirs and then the Bratan lake which the locals call “the holy lake”. The Pura Ulun Danu Temple is located on a small island in this lake. Here Dewi Danu (goddess of lakes and rivers) is venerated. We won’t talk about how beautiful the Twin Lakes and their view are.
At a fifteen minute drive you will find one of the two Buddhist monasteries of Bali. Brahma Vihara Ashrama. The monastery has several beautiful murals and is beautifully hidden in the hills. The other monastery is located in Pupuan.
These springs are known as hot springs or Air Panas. They are close by and in the hills. The three baths are located in a beautiful tropical garden and contain medicinal natural hot water of about 35 degrees.
Seririt is located west of Lovina. This is an authentic regional marketplace where you can buy fresh regional products. There is also the possibility to participate in trekking tours, which is why we work together with Bali out Back to organise them.
Lovina is a region consisting of 7 villages with Lovina Beach or Kalibukbuk as centre. This is the tourist place par excellence of North Bali. You will find shops, restaurants, bars, live music, discos, ATMs. Also several excursions can be planned from here. It is a lively place with many fishing boats. The centre of Lovina is 5 km away from the villa.
Both to the left and to the right of the villa there are still traditional fishing villages a short distance away. They are colourful with beautifully painted boats carved out of trees. These fishing villages still live quite traditional lives and depend entirely on fishing and tourism.
If you want to play golf, you can do so at the Handara Koseido Golf and Country club. One of the 18-hole top-5 courses of Asia. The domain is located at 1 hour drive and is situated in the mountains at an altitude of 1000 meters near the town of Bedugul. Because of the altitude the temperature here is moderate, which makes it pleasant to play golf. Bedugul is also a regional centre with a pasar for fruit, vegetables and flowers.
In the middle of the tropical jungle is a large national park where you can admire and study birds, iguanas and other species of the tropics.
The rice fields of Pupuan are the most beautiful rice fields of Bali and an hour’s drive from the villa. Would you rather have some rice fields closer to the villa? Then you have the rice fields of Munduk or Sambangan.
